    A young police officer from Salem, Tamil Nadu, Dinesh Kumar, had framed the strategy of most wanted Uttar Pradesh gangster Vikas Dubey’s arrest. The gangster was killed in an encounter while being brought back from Ujjain to Kanpur, on Friday.

    Kumar, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kanpur, hails from a humble background and is the son of Prabhu (63), a farmer from Chinnathanda village in Lakkampatti near Kolathur in Salem district and his mother Subathra (54), is a homemaker. Kumar completed his schooling at St Mary’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mettur, Sri Vidya Mandir HSS, Salem and Sri Ganga Matriculation HSS, Ingur. After completing his Plus Two, he pursued a BSc degree at the Agricultural University, Coimbatore, appeared for the UPSC and cleared his IPS in 2009. He was serving as a senior IPS officer since 2013 and was conferred with the DGs Commendation Disc Silver Award on January 26, 2019. He was appointed as the Kanpur SSP on June 15 this year.

    The Uttar Pradesh Police department had carried out an aggressive manhunt for the arrest of Dubey after his gang gunned down eight police officers during an attempt to arrest him weeks ago. SSP Kumar was given the responsibility for a plan of action to arrest Dubey and the officer from Salem was successful in hunting the gangster down. Though a lot of questions are being raised about the encounter killing, many in Tamil Nadu have lauded Kumar.
