Techie's body arrives from Scotland, last rites performed

The body was brought in the first flight from London, after the state relaxed restriction on international flights, on Tuesday. DT Next had carried a report how the family of the software professional were struggling to get back the body.

“The body of my brother Vinoth Rajendran arrived in Chennai in flight on Tuesday. His wife Revathi and daughter Kavinaya too arrived in the same flight,” said Karthikeyan, brother of the deceased.

Karthikeyan has been running from pillar to post to bring the body of his younger brother, a software professional in Scotland. He died of heart attack and with no flights to India, his wife and child were forced to stay to bring the body to the native.

His last rites were performed on Wednesday, Karthikeyan said. Vinoth has been working abroad for the last year and he visited his home town Udyanatham in December 2019.

Karthikeyan had send mails to offices of the Prime Minister and the President seeking help to bring back the body of Vinoth. His efforts finally paid off.

Meanwhile, a total of 152 people from Tamil Nadu, stranded in UK, arrived in Chennai on Tuesday. “I am happy to be back. But, I think it will take one more week for me reach my native place in Vellore as I am in quarantine for a week in a city hotel,” said 27-year-old Shahdad Aalam, who went to London for higher studies.
