28 in Tiruchy test negative, discharged
Twenty-eight persons, who were earlier admitted to the Quarantine Centre at Kallikudi, have tested negative for COVID-19, while 34 passengers, who landed at Tiruchy airport from various destinations, are under observation, District Collector S Sivarasu said here on Saturday.

Speaking to media, the Collector urged the people not to be panic as there was no positive cases in the district so far.
He said a special team had conducted screening of as many as 458 passengers arrived by five flights from Sharjah, Dubai and Singapore on Friday. Among them 34, including nine women, were found to have symptoms of COVID-19 and they were rushed to the Quarantine Centre at Kallikudi under the supervision of the revenue, police and health department officials.
All the 34 had undergone medical assessment and kept under observation by a team of doctors from the medical college. Their medical condition is said to be stable, the collector said.
The 28 passengers, who were earlier quarantined at the Kallikudi centre, were found to be negative for the virus and found there was no further symptoms and so they were sent back to their houses. However, they were advised to be home quarantined for a few days and they were also asked to approach the GH when they have symptoms of COVID-19. They would be monitored by a team of medical officials.
Meanwhile, 11 persons were admitted in the isolation ward in the medical college and among them seven tested negative and so they were discharged while four are still undergoing treatment in the isolation ward.
