“People at the Centre feel that Vijay might become a direct threat to the person they want to push in Tamil Nadu and so the raid was conducted only to threaten the actor. On the contrary, Rajinikanth has Rs 66 lakh due pending to be paid to Income Tax (IT) Department, but no one is questioning him,” said Seeman after meeting Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

Seeman, who was very vocal on the issue of government conducting public exams for Classes 5 and 8, went to thank Chief Minister for cancelling the public exams. After thanking him, Seeman, while addressing reporters, hit out at Rajinikanth and the I-T Department. “We all know the actor who earns more than Vijay. The actor (Rajinikanth) has obtained Rs 126 crore as salary, including GST for his previous film and he has obtained the same for his next film, but the I-T Department is mute on him,” said Seeman.

He further criticised media for highlighting all the speeches of Rajinikanth and not highlighting his pending due with the I-T Department.

However, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar said that the state government has nothing to do with the I-T raid on Vijay’s properties. “India is a democratic country and there are many watchdogs, including the media and under the circumstances government cannot take revenge on anyone as they wish. I-T Department is doing their job based on the proofs they collected and we cannot link the raids to state government,” said Jayakumar.
