In a WhatsApp post, Bedi said that sometimes the Lt Governor’s office is receiving files held for over a year from some Ministers. As files are not tracked up to the Cabinet Ministers, it stops at the Secretary levels and they feel hesitant to seek back the files from their Ministers, she said.

Asserting that Blockchain technology and use of other available technology software will make every such file movements transparent, the Lt Governor said and added that already Blockchain technology initiative is being undertaken through the flagship programmes of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Blockchain technology will be useful where documents need to be authenticated multiple times, she added. On the issue, “We can connect with colleagues who are making progress in India such as Thane CEO of Smart City, Sameer Unhale,” she said. Bedi also said that a city is not Smart without best use of available technology which makes governance transparent and more and more accountable with speed and equity.

The Lt Governor also stressed the need to prepare Puducherry for the future which is corruption free and works in coordination amongst each other to provide public service without the people having to run from pillar to post.

With the new generation of All India Service and presence of NIC, officers must bring in new tools and technology such as Blockchain and more, where all process of revenue collection and critical to public trust such as property tax to begin with and more can be handled expeditiously, Bedi said.
