Ensure SEC follows HC order, DMK chief instructs cadre
Reiterating the significance of his party men being vigilant on counting day to negate the excesses of the ruling AIADMK in local body elections, DMK president MK Stalin on Tuesday exuded confidence that the people’s mandate would be as reassuring as the Madras High Court verdict on the issue.

Elaborating on Monday’s order of the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court in the suo motu case related to civic poll counting, especially the insistence that the counting process be videographed and the CCTV footage be furnished to the court registrar, Stalin said that it was imperative for the DMK men and alliance party members present at the counting centers to ensure that the SEC complies with the undertaking it gave to the court, to defeat the machinations of the ruling party.
Recalling the submission of the SEC in the court that it does not have time to make arrangement for videographing the counting process, Stalin said the submission reveals the double standard of the Commission.
Stalin, who is also the Leader of Opposition, wondered if the State Election Commission (SEC) was functioning like an autonomous body or a puppet of the ruling AIADMK?
