Van turns turtle, 3 from Kovai hurt

Of the 15 passengers on board, the three were injured after the van hit a central media and overturned. The remaining 12 escaped with mild scratches.

On information, Chengam town police rushed to the spot and with the help of local fire service personnel cleared the area. Subsequently, the injured were hospitalised. Police have registered a case and investigation is on.

Locals told the officials that it was the presence of a central median on a narrow road filled with encroachments that led to accidents and they must be removed. The public too have petitioned the officials seeking removal of the media in order to prevent such accidents in future.
