Pollachi case: Accused took victims 'for a ride' before exploitation in farmhouse

The CB-CID Department took him into custody on Friday and interrogated him at an undisclosed location. He along with his three accomplices Sathish, Sabarirajan, Vasanthakumar lured young women into love trap, sexually assaulted and videographed the act to extort money from them.

Though the culprits were involved in sexual abuse for the last several years, it came to light only recently after a girl student lodged a complaint with police. Police officials, privy to the investigation revealed that the four men would call girls for a fun trip in the car, but would take them to the farmhouse of Thirunavukkarasu to exploit them.

Police said even while studying in college, Sabarirajan, was thrashed by other students for misbehaving with a girl student. “Once, the family members of a girl assaulted him for sexually abusing a girl following similar modus operandi. They had even warned his parents to mend his ways, yet Sabarirajan did not change his behaviour,” said a cop. However, most of the victims did not prefer a complaint to avoid embarrassment.

The police are now digging out the past crimes of the accused persons and are in the process of identifying the victims. The police have also decided to take three others on custody to carry out the second round of interrogation. Meanwhile, advocates boycotted courts in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Pollachi and held protests demanding a deeper probe and sought to suspend Superintendent of Police R Pandiarajan.

Protestors charged the SP of being partial in his probe. College students and activist groups too continued their protest demanding a court-monitored probe.

Shops and commercial establishments in Pollachi area are likely to down shutters from dawn to dusk on Tuesday over this issue.
