Ayyappa and Vavar were said to be friends. “We are against allowing women, aged 10 to 50, to visit Sabarimala. However, Kerala government headed by Pinarayi Vijayan has been encouraging women to visit the temple after the Supreme Court order. Tiruvallur district women wing has said that it wants to send women devotees to Vavaraswami mosque as the Kerala government is encouraging women to visit Sabarimala temple,” noted Arjun Sampath, heading Hindu Makkal Katchi.
Following the threat from the Hindu outfit, the Kerala police had sent an alert about the possible presence of nearly 40 women in areas near to Sabarimala and Vavaraswami mosque, in Erumely.
Talking to DT Next, Arjun Sampath also accused Kerala CM of deliberately sending women to Sabarimala and hurting the sentiments of large number of Ayyappa devotees in Tamil Nadu.
“We would hold black flag demonstration against Pinarayi Vijayan when he visits Chennai on December 16 to attend the function of unveiling of statue of late DMK Leader M Karunanidhi,” he added.
