UGC extends NSQF scheme for two universities in Tamil Nadu
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has extended National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) scheme for two universities in Tamil Nadu to impart specified courses for this academic year.

The NSQF is a competency-based framework that organises all the qualifications according to a series of levels of knowledge, skills and aptitude. These levels, graded from 1 to 10, are defined in terms of learning outcomes which the learner must possess regardless of whether they are obtained through formal, non-formal or informal learning.
Accordingly, Periyar University in Salem, will continue to provide courses such as textiles and apparel design and food science and nutrition. Similarly, Central University of Tami Nadu in Tiruvarur, also got the nod to extend its paralegal studies course.
Likewise, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore, will also continue its garment designing and beauty therapy and aesthetics courses. Recently, UGC also given nod to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. National Skill Development Corporation is working with 21 Universities, UGC and AICTE catering to more than 1,200 colleges and 400 community colleges across the country. The UGC is considering extension of approval to the institutions in TN, already granted approval for running the scheme of community college. Financial assistance will be provided for the cost of training as stipulated in the revised scheme guidelines within the common norms notified in the official gazette of India for Skill Development Schemes.
