Garuda Sevai festival celebrated in Thanjavur
The 84th Garuda Sevai festival was celebrated in Thanjavur on Monday, with deities of 24 Vaishnavite temples across the district taken out in a procession through the four main streets.

All the 24 deities including Neelamegar, Manikunnar, Kalyana Venkatesar were assembled at the Kodimarathu Moolai. The procession was then taken out with Thirumangai Alwar seated on the Anna Pakshi Vahanam in the lead. The procession went around the East Main Street, South Main Street, West Main Street and North Main Street before coming back to Kodimarathu Moolai.
Later the deities were taken to their respective temples. Of the 24 temples, 18 come under the Thanjavur Palace Devasthanam.
During the procession through the four main streets, the deities were worshipped by hundreds of devotees. The Navaneetha Sevai would be celebrated on Tuesday, in which deities from 15 temples will be taken out on a procession. The festival has been organised by the Sri Ramanuja Darshana Sabai with permission from the Palace Devasthanam.
