Kanchana (70), wife of Balaraman of Kalleripattu village, approached KS Kandasamy at the Arni taluk office in Tiruvannamalai district, where he was supervising the annual settlement of village revenue accounts.

Kanchana said her wages for serving in the employment scheme were being deposited in the Arni branch of SBI. However, problems arose after she linked her Aadhaar number to her bank account, resulting in her wages being deposited into the account of Shampal Singh, a resident of Shahabad in Uttar Pradesh, who also had the same Aadhaar number. Unable to withdraw the money, Kanchana said she was unable run her family.

Acting on her complaint, Kandasamy ordered Block Development Officer M Thilagavathy to immediately render financial assistance to Kanchana. He also promised to look into the duplicate Aadhaar issue.
