DMK rejig likely before zonal meet
The DMK has planned it big for the two-day party zonal conference, which would be held at Erode, to strengthen its base in the western region.

At least a minor organisational shake up or a precursor to it could be discerned ahead of the conference, which would start two days after the ongoing ‘review’ gets over.
Information trickling out of Anna Arivalayam and feedback from participants of the review chaired by DMK leader MK Stalin suggest that a organisational shake up could happen, even at the district secretary level, ahead of the conference. If interactions with party insiders were something to go by, secretaries of at least a dozen districts, mainly the squabbling ones in the western region, could be pulled up by Stalin.
The changed equations between the regional functionaries and the high command could be seen in the zonal conference.
“Even if the announcement is not made by then, functionaries would be able to sense the impending danger. Stalin made his intentions clear when he cautioned district secretaries during the first few days of the review meeting about the N R Elango-led committee visiting erring functionaries,” said a senior leader on the condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile, the organising committee of the zonal conference has made special plans to magnify as much, the image of Stalin as celebrating the illustrious history of the party.
One attraction of the two-day conference would be 100 self-respect marriages to be solemnised by Stalin.
