    An one man inquiry commission headed by Justic S Rajeswaran, a retired judge of the Madras High Court, probing the Jallikattu protests is likely to complete enquiry in eight months.

    Addressing the reporters in Salem on Thursday, he said that, so far summons have been issued for 447 people and 108 people have been questioned. Even cops and actors, who took part or voiced their views on the protest would be summoned and questioned, said the judge.

    Justice Rajeswaran said that he had already inspected violence-hit regions in Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy and Salem. After inspections, summons would be sent to people. In Salem, 11 people were called-in, they will be interrogated for two days.

    A report would be submitted to the government soon after inquiry on the circumstances that led to the disturbance of law and order during jallikattu protests on January 23, said the judge.

    The commission would also ascertain whether there were any excesses on the part of police officers. If so, he assured that action would be taken against them. Damage to public property during the last phase of the jallikattu agitation is also being looked into.
