NEET row: State told to reply on dual nativity within a week
The controversy over students with dual nativity figuring in the medical and BDS admission in the state has landed in the court. The Madras High Court on Friday while admitting a plea moved in this regard has offered the state a week’s time to file its reply.

The plea had sought to quash the provisional merit list of MBBS/BDS released on August 23 by the Secretary, Selection Committee and Directorate of Medical Education as it is found that the candidates whose nativity is not Tamil Nadu were given admission.
Justice K Ravichandra Baabu, before whom a petition from D Vignayya of Pudukkottai came up for hearing, on directing the government pleader to get instructions, posted it for further hearing by a week.
The petitioner, who belongs to de-notified community and had secured 206 marks in NEET 2017, contended that the entire selection list is contrary to the Tamil Nadu Medical College Admission Procedures and the norms prescribed by the Supreme Court.
