Confident of getting Centre’s nod: Minister
“We will send a revised ordinance to the Centre seeking a year’s exemption from NEET,” Health minister C Vijaya Baskar told the media after a meeting with Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at the latter’s residence along Greenways Road, on Sunday.

The impromptu meeting between the CM and Health minister took place soon after Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement.
The minister was confident of getting the Centre’s nod for the proposal.
“Our contention is to secure exemption for seats in government colleges and government quota seats in self-financing colleges, if at least for a year,” he said.
“Caution is being exercised to ensure that the proposed move does not get embroiled in legal hurdles. We are also confident of completing the admission process ahead of the month-end deadline set by Medical Council of India( MCI). We might beat the admission deadline and start our classes too,” the minister said.
“Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan will fly to New Delhi along with two other officers with the ordinance draft, and submit it to the Centre on Monday. The Union Home ministry, along with other departments, will look into the matter,” he told DT Next. He is also planning to visit Delhi soon.
The minister also thanked union minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for offering to accept the proposal for a temporary NEET exemption in principle.
