Talking to media persons in Tiruchy, Vasan said that the government should address the demands of South Indian Motor Transport Association immediately and try to end the truckers’ strike as early as possible. If the association continues with the strike for a few more days, then all the southern states would face a severe crisis in supply of essential commodities.

The TMC president further said, “The court has directed the government to close the TASMAC outlets located on Highways, near schools and other public places before March 31. Instead of obeying the order, the government has sought extension of time to close the outlets citing revenue concerns.”

Accusing the Centre and state of maintaining an unwarranted silence on the hydrocarbon issue, Vasan wanted both the governments to clarify their stance on the project to contain the steamrolling protests across the state.
