Head constable held accepting Rs 5,000 bribe
The sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and anti-corruption on Tuesday arrested a head constable for accepting Rs 5,000 as bribe for returning the mobile phone of an arrested person, later who was released on bail.

According the DVAC, a group clash was erupted between a group of students from Madukkur and another group of students from Athivetti at Madukkur few days ago. In this clash, Vijayakumar of Madukkur North reportedly supported group of students from Madukkur. Following this, Madukkur police registered a case.Â
It is said, during interrogation, S Cheran, who has been working as a head constable at Madukkur police station reportedly took away the mobile phone of Vijayakumar. Later, when he requested the cop to return the phone, the Head Constable Cheran demanded Rs 5,000 for the same.Â
Singaravadivel, the brother of Vijayakumar complained about Cheran’s demand of graft with the DVAC police in Thanjavur. Based on the complaint, the DVAC, arrested Cheran.Â
