Notice to PM to abstain from attending Isha Foundation fete
An advocate, who has moved a plea against Isha Foundation for reportedly encroaching forest land, has sent a private notice to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to abstain from attending the function to unveil a 112-ft tall face of Lord Shiva installed by the Isha Foundation on February 24.

Advocate M Vetri Selvan in his notice has contended that a slew of petitions has been moved against Isha Foundation since 2012 seeking to demolish its illegal structures spread out in around 1.25 lakh square meters without obtaining due permission from competent authorities.Â
Noting that the Department of Town and Country planning in response to a writ petition moved in 2013 had conceded that Isha Foundation had illegally constructed 62 building blocks and 15 more were in the process of being completed, he said the number of litigations pending at the Madras High Court and at the National Green Tribunal speaks volumes about the illegalities resorted to by Isha Foundation.Â
He also submitted that with Jaggi Vasudev continuing to violate the law of the land, as declared by the Tamil Nadu Government itself, the Prime Minister’s visit to Isha Foundation, which is mired in illegalities in the form of illegal buildings facing demolition notices, may amount to interfering with the administration of justice. The proposed visit by the Prime Minister to such a place would be considered by the people as a disgrace and a bad precedent, he added.
