K K Ramesh, in his petition, had claimed that Jayalalithaa had acted in large number of movies and had earned several crores before joining politics in the year 1982. In 2016, she had contested in the R K Nagar constituency and in the affidavit the details of her assets were mentioned clearly.

According to the affidavit, her bank deposit amount was Rs10,63,83,945, her investments were estimated to be Rs 27,44,55,450, her jewels were worth Rs 41,63,55,395 and her immovable properties were worth Rs 72,09,83,190.

Apart from that, there are several properties outside the State and as she did not appoint anyone as heir to her properties her properties should be nationalised. By nationalising her properties, the funds from the properties could be used for developmental schemes.

In this regard, he had sent petitions to the government but was no action was taken. Hence the High Court should direct the state government to nationalise the properties of Jayalalithaa, prayed Ramesh.

The petition was heard and in the argument Public Prosecutor quoted Supreme Court’s Judgment that private properties should not be brought under the ambit of PIL and hence prayed the court to dismiss the case. Accepting the argument, the court dismissed the plea.
