Headmaster suspended for molesting class 9 student
The head master of a government high school near Kovilpatti has been suspended for allegedly molesting one of his minor students.

The Chief Education Officer (CEO) initiated action after the girl’s parents filed a complaint. The accused, Jakkan (50), was working as the HM at Government Higher Secondary School in Kottur near Kovilpatti. Sources claimed that there were several such complaints against Jakkan, who targeted girls who scored low marks in the examinations. Recently. Jakkan threatened a Class 9 student, who had scored low marks in her examinations, that she would not be allowed to appear for the annual examination. He then called the girl to his room and allegedly molested her. The girl informed her parents, who lodged a complaint with Thoothukudi CEO, Ramachandran.Â
Following inquiries, the CEO issued suspension orders against Jakkan. Sources claimed that earlier, a woman clerk, who was working in the school, had lodged a similar complaint against Jakkan. However, he was let off after an apology. In another incident, a 26-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl on promise of marriage. The accused identifeid as Balamurugan (26), of Madurai, was a married man. He had developed a relationship with a 16-year-old girl from the neighbourhood and had promised to marry her after divorcing his wife.Â
Recently, Balamurugan took the girl to his relative’s house in Tirunelveli and allegedly raped her. The relatives in Tirunelveli warned the girl about the bad character of Balamurugan. After coming to Madurai, she informed her parents about the incident. Her parents then lodged a complaint with the Tallakulam.
