Acting on a tip off that a fake passport racket was functioning in Valanadu police station limits, the office of the Superintendent of Police sought for a detailed investigation.Â
According to the police authorities, Seeman, one of the head constables from the area, allegedly had a nexus with touts in Valanadu locality and was carrying out police verifications.Â
Recently, while inspecting the file of one Ajith Kumar, police found that there was no such person living in the locality. The authorities soon began to scrutinise all the documents, which head constable Seeman had brought after police verification.Â
A total of 113 files have been picked up by the police and investigations are underway. It is alleged that two brokers from the locality - Srirangam Radhakrishnan (48) and Valanadu Veeran Chettiyar (61) - carried out the entire operation with the support of the head constable.Â
The police soon found that several brokers from the same locality were involved in providing the fake passports. The police have arrested six brokers - Mani (46), Mohammed Ismail (55), Mohammed Abbas (44), Nizar Mohammed (46) and Vellaisamy (50) - from the locality.Â
The officials are now searching for head constable Seeman and another broker Radhakrishan. Further investigations are on.
