Nagapattinam
When a few drifted to Sri Lanka coast, they were diverted and are now heading towards Nagapattinam. Earlier, the minister OS Manian pacified the anxious family members of the fishermen who faced a delay in reaching the coast. Fishermen community members informed the police and fisheries department that there were 105 fishermen from Akkaraipettai, Keechankuppam and Kodiakarai, who had to reach the shore.Â
The fishermen had ventured into the sea on November 25 and were scheduled to return on December 1. This created a flutter in the costal hamlets of the district. Meanwhile, a team of fishermen went in search of the fellow fishermen while the Coastal Security Group personnel had given other assistance. Out of the 24 fishing vessels that were stranded at mid-sea in because of Cyclone Nada, 22 returned to the shore in several batches. The remaining two drifted past the International Maritime Boundry Line (IMBL) and entered the Sri Lankan waters. But now, they are also heading back to their homes, sources from the Coastal Security Group said.
