CHENNAI: Urging students and youth to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) positively, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday said the rapidly growing technology would help them reach greater heights in life.
Launching the laptop distribution scheme for students under the title 'Ulagam Ungal Kaiyil' at a function here, he said Tamil Nadu's growth is closely linked to the confidence and capabilities of its youth.
"The laptop scheme is neither an expenditure nor a free gift. It is a tool placed in your hands to rule the world through knowledge. We have created every opportunity for students to excel in their studies," the Chief Minister said.
Backing the use of AI, he clarified that technology cannot replace the human brain but can significantly enhance efficiency and workflow. Those who fear AI and restrain themselves from making use of its advantages were treading a path of foolishness, he said. "With the support of AI, we are reaching new heights," he added.
Addressing students, particularly college-goers, the Chief Minister said the Dravidian model government has always accorded priority to science and technology. Recalling earlier initiatives, he said late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had implemented the TIDEL Park project and introduced a separate Information Technology policy 25 years ago, laying the foundation for Tamil Nadu's growth in the technology sector.
In a veiled reference to future electoral success, Stalin said the government would continue to uphold its values and work hard to secure a dignified future for the State.
Advising beneficiaries of the laptop scheme, the Chief Minister urged students not to use the devices merely for entertainment. "Do not restrict it to games or movies. Use it as a launchpad for your future. Victory is waiting for you," he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers Thangam Thennarasu, Govi Chezhiaan, and Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, former ISRO chairman Mayilsamy Annadurai, and Chief Secretary N Muruganandam were present at the event.
