TIRUCHENDUR: A 37-year-old woman pilgrim died after being hit by a government bus at the Tiruchendur bus stand in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased, Saranya, daughter of Azhagar from Uraiyur in Tiruchy, had arrived at the bus stand around 4.50 am to visit the Subramaniya Swamy temple for Panguni Uthiram.
While she was walking near the entrance of the bus stand, a government bus coming from behind hit her.
She got trapped under the rear wheel and died on the spot. Tiruchendur taluk police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem to the government hospital.
A case has been registered, and further inquiry is under way.
