COIMBATORE: The mortal remains of Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who lost his life in the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas crash during the Dubai air show, were flown to his home town of Himachal Pradesh from Sulur Air Base in Coimbatore on Sunday.

Syal was accorded full honours at the Sulur Air Base. Coimbatore District Collector Pavan Kumar G Giriyappanavar, Superintendent of Police K Karthikeyan and other officials paid floral tributes.

The mortal remains of the Wing Commander were flown from Dubai to Sulur Air Force on Saturday. He was performing an aerial stunt when the aircraft suddenly lost altitude, crashed and burst into flames. The pilot died on the spot, sparking widespread grief and shock across India.

His wife, also serving as a Wing Commander in Sulur Air Base, and his seven-year-old daughter remained inconsolable.
