SRMIST chancellor's birthday celebrated

CHENNAI: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) celebrated the birthday of its Founder Chancellor, Dr TR Parivendhar, with Sevai Thirunal 2026, focusing on service, compassion and social responsibility, at the Dr TP Ganesan Auditorium, Kattankulathur.

Organised by Tamil Perayam, the celebrations featured a series of community-oriented initiatives under the Service Day programme.

These included blood and eye donation drives, free medical camps, temple cleaning activities, tree plantation drives, student competitions and distribution of educational materials to underprivileged students.

A key highlight was the inauguration of the SRM Rehab Centre–Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Kattankulathur, by Dr Parivendhar in the presence of Pro-Chancellor (Academics) Dr P Sathyanarayanan.

Mrs Easwari Ammal also inaugurated a hostel facility spanning more than eight lakh square feet on the SRMIST campus.

The event also witnessed the release of LEGACY, the Medical Faculty magazine, highlighting its academic, healthcare and research contributions.
