

CHENNAI: "The settlement is listed in the list of “unobjectionable slums” as per the Pre-Feasibility Study for Identification of Environmental Infrastructure Requirement in Slums in Chennai Metropolitan Area, Final Report - Chennai Corporation Area, September 2005, prepared by Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (now renamed as Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board – TNUHDB) and Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services," the representation, which is endorsed by 27 civil society groups, said.
Also, the representation pointed out that the eviction is violating several norms as it has been commenced during examinations. The ration cards of families have been transferred three years back to Perumbakkam area while families are continuing to reside in Govindasamy Nagar.
