The person Kutty, along with his friend Nasar and his family, was on a visit to Coonoor and was recording the fog that had formed in the area. And while doing so also recorded the last moments of the helicopter.

Nasar while speaking to mediapersons at Coimbatore said, "We were at the Katteri area in Coonoor along with the family and my friend Kutty and we found that when the chopper was crossing the Katteri area, thick fog had engulfed the place and we heard a loud thud."

He said the family immediately moved to the area from where the sound was heard and after a few bends in the ghat road they found ambulances and police involved in rescue operations. Nasar said, "We handed over the video that we recorded to the police and left the place as the police and army had by then cordoned off the place and were not allowing the general public into the area."

Nasar said that he had told the police what he had been at Katteri on Wednesday and said that the video was recorded from a railway track that was far away from the accident site.
