“To get academic equivalence to ITI pass out, so that academic career can progress. The students who complete his matriculation through National Institute of Open School (NIOS) and then do ITI course of two-year, the students will be awarded a certificate, which will be equivalent to class 12 and would have recognition throughout the country,” said Mr Rudy while interacting with the media on completion of two years in power here.
Keeping in mind, a huge number of students who pass out every year with limited aspirations for career prospects, the Minister said, “An important decision has been taken. There are about 18 lakh students passing out through Industrial Training Institute (ITI) every year. After completing ITI course, there was no validating that they could go for further study. Their credibility and training were stopped after the course.”
Expressing gratitude towards Human Resource Minister Smriti Irani for the coming on board with Skill Development Ministry, Mr Rudy said, “We have talked with the Ministry of HRD and it was in process for long but reached on understanding last day and the Prime Minister had himself implemented the same scheme in Gujarat when he was the Chief Minister of the state. It has directly benefited the students there.”
The decision will be implemented in the coming admission session. It is being expected that the development would help a lot of students. The decision has also been taken for class eight passed out students too. They will be awarded with the matriculation certificate, if they complete two-year ITI course. They will have to opt for only two subjects, including English and a training paper. Earlier, ITI students had to take admission in college too, if they wished to go for further study.
