At an all-party meeting called by Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari ahead of the session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed hope that the opposition parties would extend their all cooperation in the smooth conduct of both Houses of Parliament.Â
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the Opposition raised its concern over various matters, including the JNU controversy and a Dalit student’s suicide in the Hyderabad Central University, and was assured by the government that there was no hesitation on its part to discuss any matter.Â
However, the government appealed to the Opposition to help in smooth functioning of both Houses of Parliament and the passing of key bills.
