Chennai designer Anu Singh to represent India at int'l beauty pageant
CHENNAI: Anu Singh, a 25-year-old leather designer from Chennai, will be representing India at Miss Aura International, a beauty pageant in Turkey.
The pageant will end on September 26 and the titleholder will be crowned at the grand coronation in Turkey.
Speaking to DT Next about how she feels, she says, “Representing India is a huge honour. I’m very grateful to Rubaru Miss India Elite for giving me the opportunity. Honestly, it’s surreal for me. I’m enjoying every bit of the competition and I hope I return with laurels; making my country proud.”
Anu says that her preparation for the international contest has been intense. In terms of grooming, ramp walk, outfits and etiquettes. “When a delegate is representing a country, they need to perfect these aspects. These things really matter,” she remarks.
For Anu, however, the preparations were not a foreign experience. She began participating in beauty contests at the age of sixteen and has been actively involved since. She believes that these contests are more than just beauty. “Beauty pageants give women the platform to represent who they truly are, be it in terms of talent, personality or aura. That’s what matters,” she smiles.
What is in store for Anu if she wins the international contest? “After I win, I can’t wait to get back to India and celebrate with my loved ones. That would top my list. Second, I would help girls who are planning to apply for pageants and are unsure about the international procedures.
“I would impart as much knowledge as I can which would help them if they’re planning to pursue in the line of pageantry. So that’s my plan of action after I win and hopefully, that happens very soon,” she chuckles.
