CHENNAI: A Kannada-Tulu film, Jai, is directed by Roopesh Shetty. It is now the first Tulu film to premiere on Zee5. The film blends drama, action, humour and socio-political commentary into a cinematic narrative rooted deeply in coastal Karnataka’s cultural fabric.
The star cast includes the director himself, Raj Deepak Shetty, Adhvithi Shetty, Aravind Bolar, Devadas Kapikad, Naveen D Padil and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor. Bollywood star Suniel Shetty is set to make his Tulu debut with Jai.
Suniel Shetty shared, “When I agreed to be part of Jai, it wasn’t about the scale or the screen time. It was about the honesty of the film. Tulu cinema carries a rawness and cultural pride that is rarely seen nationally.”
The story follows Satya, a young man from Simhabettu village whose awakening to community issues propels him from local politics into a broader fight for his people’s welfare.
Roopesh Shetty said, “Jai comes from a personal space. We made this film for people who see themselves on screen, their villages, politics and everyday struggles.”
Jai will stream from February 6 on Zee5.
