CHENNAI: A 28-year-old policeman who questioned youngsters creating ruckus in a saloon on Ellis road, Triplicane was allegedly attacked with a knife on late Saturday night.

City police have arrested two persons, including a college student, in connection with the attack.

The policeman, V Balaji, who lives at the police quarters in Triplicane went to the Saloon on Saturday night. When he was there, a youth, who came to the saloon, picked up an argument with the hairdresser, asking him to attend to him first.

When the hairdresser asked him to go to another saloon, the youth allegedly created a ruckus there and Balaji questioned his behaviour and asked him to leave the scene.

The youth threatened Balaji and called up two of his friends, who came there and rounded up Balaji. They attacked him with a small knife after abusing him. Balaji was treated for his injuries.

Anna Salai Police registered a case and arrested Syed, a college student and Fayaz. Search is on for another person.

The arrested persons have been produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
