“The 625 cases reported in the city were distributed throughout all the 15 zones. We have not observed any clusters in a defined area. We are continuing an integrated disease surveillance project and containment measures against dengue fever,” an official said.

The civic body data said there were two deaths in the city during these 20 months, both children below six years. One death was reported from Mogappair and another from Maduravoyal. However, the data does not include the death of a three-year-old girl in Alandur, who succumbed to the fever in July. “All the deceased children had comorbid conditions,” the official said.

The Corporation penalised 449 habitual offenders who did not comply with the mosquito control measures.

“A penalty of Rs 89 lakhs have been collected as fine from those who failed to control the breeding of Aedes mosquito larvae in their premises,” a civic body report said.
