    Man forges papers to usurp Rs 5 cr property

    Chennai city Central Crime Branch sleuths arrested a man for allegedly trying to take over Rs 5 crore worth property which was rented out to him. Police also seized from the accused fake seals of magistrate, doctor and public prosecutor, believed to have been used to forge documents.

    The arrested was identified as Alishul Karim, 55, of Mannadi. Police are investigating whether he has usurped any other property using the same modus operandi.

    According to the police, Karim had taken the property on rent after entering into an agreement with its owner, Kripakaran from Mannadi.

    After occupying the property, he conspired with his associates, prepared fake documents and created a sales deed, which is not executed.

    Police noted that the accused had forged signatures of the heirs of property as well as two deceased as he tried to make the sales deed with forged papers.

    The accused was facing at least 10 criminal cases including murder and attempt to murder cases. He was also detained under the Goondas Act.
