Eight more police and fire personnel found infected

A head constable of Kothavalchavadi traffic police station and a sub-inspector of Ayanavaram traffic police station were the latest from the traffic wing to join the list. The head constable lives at mansion site police quarters in Thousand Lights.

Similarly, a constable of Choolaimedu police station who lives in Teynampet police quarters and another constable of Marina police station have also tested positive.

A sub-inspector at Ayanavaram fire station and a woman Home Guard are the other personnel. After a constable at DGP quarters tested positive, all his colleagues were subjected to tests. The personnel were admitted to different government hospitals and Corporation staff are marking the containment zones in the respective quarters.

So far, 30 police and fire personnel in the city have been affected by COVID-19.
