City-based theatre production house Royal Flush Productions will be presenting a play titled O.M.G — The Complete Word of God Abridged. The 90-minute play is a journey through the Bible where three theatre artistes Amit Singh, Sarvesh Sridhar and Prashanth Oliver interpret a few much-loved stories in the Bible in a hilarious way.

“It is an entertaining play for the audience to watch and at the same time, a very difficult play for the actors to perform. Three actors will be portraying over 40 characters with 30-35 costume changes and everything happens extremely fast. The play has live singing and a bit of goofy dancing.  We also make the audience perform with us in certain segments. Even if the audience isn’t familiar with the stories, they will be able to understand it. There are excellent humour elements in the play and the audience can’t help but give in to the giggles and the guffaws, which are very hard to resist,” says Amit Singh, who is also producing the play.

The play, directed by Michael Muthu, will be depicting the first testament in the first act and second testament in the second act. O.M.G — The Complete Word of God Abridged combines shtick, wordplay, physical humour, sight gags and jokes as old as Moses’ toes. When quizzed him if the play will hurt the religious sentiments of a section of people, he replies, “There is a line in the play where one actor asks the other — “Do you think God has a sense of humour” — and the reply is “Of course, he does. We shouldn’t take everything in a serious manner. Also, as theatre artistes, we should stand up for freedom of expression where we should be allowed to tell the story we want.”

The play will be staged on February 22 and 23 at Alliance Francaise of Madras,Nungambakkam.
