Singers from across India come together for a collaboration

Living in the age of dating apps and social media, it may seem like true love is lost in the world. In an effort to highlight the need for compassion and love in all of us, Chennai-based musician Rachintan Trivedi has collaborated with six singers from across the country for three songs in Tamil, Gujarati and Hindi that celebrate empathy and love.

Speaking about the initiative, Rachintan says, “Nowadays, I feel the need for compassion, empathy and love is more than ever. So, I had composed a song named Iravu Kuda Vaasmey in Tamil, which talks of love, empathy and compassion. I was keen that the song should reach more people. I decided to work with singers in Gujarati and Hindi as well to bring out the same song in two more languages, so that it can be heard by a larger audience.”

The song, which is called Khwab in Hindi and Mulakat in Gujarati, was composed through Rachintan’s initiative named Art’tma Musical. Through the initiative, the 29-year-old musician who is also a piano faculty at AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory in the city, has been collaborating with musicians, dancers, painters and visual artists across India for multi-disciplinary art tie-ups.

“For these three songs, I have worked with singers Pooja Venkat and Yadu Krishnan in Tamil, Abhay Jodhpurkar and Pooja Tiwari for the Hindi version, and Abhishek Soni and Bageshri Thakar for the Gujarati version. I knew some of the singers, but got in touch with a few others through social media. They had recorded the songs as per my composition in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, and sent them over to me. It seemed fitting to release the songs around Valentine’s Day,” shares the composer.

Art’tma Musical’s other compositions called Devi and Her Two Days of Journey were recently featured by the China Art Association. “Through different collaborations, I aim to take the power of art and music to everyone,” he remarks.
