The in-line scanning facility at the domestic terminal is under trial, and will be commissioned shortly, the statement added.

In all, there would be eight state of the art CTX scanners, four each at international and domestic terminals, which are being commissioned at Rs 58 crore. The old scanner at the international terminal has been replaced with the new one that has been put to use from Thursday.

The CTX 9800 DSi scanner can handle up to 1,800 bags per hour – the domestic and international terminals handle more than 75,000 bags every week. The scanners would make the screening process faster and more efficient, due to which, the passenger processing will be faster, queuing time will be minimum, and there will thus be lesser congestion at the check-in area, it said.
