Man held for cheating on the promise of job in Metro Rail
The Central Crime Branch police sleuths have arrested a man for allegedly duping youngsters on the promise of jobs in Chennai Metro Rail.

The accused A Mariadoss alias Dinesh (41) of Ayanavaram gave the victims a mail ID and bank account details and asked them to deposit Rs 3,250.Â
Later, he received Rs 75,000 to issue fake appointment orders and told them that they should give another Rs 3 lakh at the end of the training, said CCB sources.
The General Managar of CMRL had earlier lodged a complaint that advertisements were being aired on local TV channels promising jobs in Metro Rail, CCB had already registered a case and found out during investigation that a gang from north India is behind the job racket and collected Rs 30,000 from each candidate.Â
The job seeker later approached CMRL office Koyambedu, after which the racket came to light.
Since Mariadoss has given the same email ID used by the north Indian gang, police suspect he is also part of the gang. Mariadoss has been remanded to judicial custody.
Gold stolen with duplicate keys
Unidentified persons entered a house in Royapettah and burgled 40 sovereigns and cash on Sunday. K Mumtaj (35) of VM Street Second Lane in Royapettah had gone to a nearby shop in the locality on Sunday. When she returned, the doors had been unlocked.Â
Mumtaj rushed in and checked for valuables. As much as 40 sovereigns of jewels and Rs 20,000 were stolen from the cupboard. The miscreants also took a laptop and a mobile phone from the house. Based on her complaint, the Royapettah police registered a case and are investigating. Police said that the burglars had entered the house by using duplicate keys.
