Chennai
Sources at Directorate of Examination said that the number of students applying to reassess their answer sheets has increased this year. “More than 10,000 Class 12 students have already applied for revaluation.
Similarly, Class 10 students have also started to apply soon after the results were announced on Wednesday,” a senior official from the directorate said. The official added that there is more time left for the students to apply and that the number of applications is expected to go up in the coming days.
According to him, the answer sheets of the applicants will be revalued by a three-member committee who are experts in the subject and any change (increase or decrease) in the total marks will be published again. This system ensures the transparency in evaluation methods adopted and also brings the accountability of teachers into focus.
All candidates are permitted to apply for recounting of all subjects within the dates prescribed by the Directorate of Examinations.
“I scored 89 marks in English. I have applied for revaluation and also re-totalling. I hope the revised marks will be better than the original,” S Balakrishnan, a Class 10 student of a matriculation school in Pammal said. Teachers, who took up revaluation and re-totalling process, said that many students who have applied have scored more than 80 per cent in the particular subject.
“Students apply for revaluation or re-totalling to try their luck. We do not commit mistakes while evaluating answer sheets,” K Soraja, a school teacher, who was called for revaluation said.
