    A 25-year-old man had a close shave at Chennai Central on Sunday as he slipped into the gap between the coach and the platform, when he attempted to get into a moving train. An alert RPF personnel pulled him out just in time and he escaped with minor injuries. The victim was identified as B Pinan Verma, a native of Kolkata.

    The incident took place when he attempted to board the special train to Thiruvananthapuram.

    The train had already started moving from sixth platform when he tried to board S13 coach. Verma lost balance and slipped into the gap. An RPF constable on duty K Jayaprakash, who was standing on the platform, acted swiftly and pulled Verma onto the platform. Passengers on the platform rushed to the scene and gave Verma first-aid at the Apollo Centre.

    The loco-pilot of the train was also alerted, and he brought the train to a halt to ensure that the passenger was safe. Verma, who suffered minor injuries on his back, was later taken to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in a battery-operated car. The incident created flutter at the station and the constable Jayaprakash was appreciated for his effort to save a life.
