    Anandraj’s ‘voter-based advice’ to MLAs

Actor Anandraj, a Jayalalithaa loyalist, who walked out of AIADMK following the party’s decision to hand over reins to VK Sasikala, appealed to the AIADMK MLAs to represent the interests of their constituency voters in the floor test on Saturday and not to sell themselves for “cheap pleasures.”

“All MLAs should think over whether they want to be in politics for the long haul or if they want to make instant gains (obviously referring to allegations of money distribution) and lose a career in politics. If they remain loyal to their voters, they can return to their constituencies otherwise they will have to only return to Koovathur,” he said.

Criticising the MLAs for remaining in the luxury resort for so long in spite of the election of a new Chief Minister, Anandraj said, “Usually these MLAs get out of their homes in expensive cars and flaunt them but when they went to Koovathur, they were all thrust into a bus and when they come to the Assembly on Saturday, they will come in similar buses only. It is such a mockery of democracy that elected legislators are not even allowed to use their own vehicles,” he said.

While being discreet in his support to the other camp, Anandraj said that he was a follower of Amma and will always remain so. The actor, known for playing villan roles in the 90s, was among the first of AIADMK men to openly come out against VK Sasikala and her family members taking over the party.

Chief Minister will fail in floor test: Om Sakthi Sekhar

Former AIADMK legislator Om Sakthi Sekhar, expelled from the party for supporting O Panneerselvam, has said Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy will not be able to prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly.

Talking to media persons here last night, Sekhar said Palaniswamy had fulfilled the desire of Sasikala by pelting stones at the residence of OPS immediately after taking oath as the Chief Minister. A Chief Minister, who threatened the legislators and kept them in captivity, could never prove majority on the floor of the House, he added. Pointing out that only four AIADMK legislators had participated in the swearing-in ceremony of Palanisamy, Sekhar said Puducherry party secretary Purushotaman does not support Sasikala.
