SETC to operate 11,270 specials to handle rush during Pongal
The State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) has made elaborate arrangements to ensure services and free flow of traffic during Pongal festival.

In line with the arrangements taken during the Deepavali holidays this year, the corporation has made changes to its services at following places for January 11, 12 and 13, said an official release.
AP bound busesÂ
The APSRTC and SETC buses heading for Andhra Pradesh and plying via Red Hills would depart from Anna Nagar (West) Bus Stand.
ECR bound busesÂ
Buses heading to Pudhucherry, Cuddalore and Chidambaram via East Coast Road (ECR) will depart from Adyar Gandhi Nagar Bus Stand.
Buses to Thanjavur and Kumbakonam:Â
Buses heading to Thanjavur via Tindivanam, Vikkaravandy and Panruti will start from Arignar Anna Bus Stand Tambaram-Sanatorium (MEPZ).
Buses via VelloreÂ
Buses to Arcot, Arani, Vellore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupathur and Hosur via Poonamalle will depart from Poonamalle Bus Stand. All reserved and unreserved passengers, who usually board from Koyambedu are requested go to the above mentioned temporary bus stands between January 11 and 13.
Koyambedu operationÂ
Buses plying in the remaining route buses including Myladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Tiruchy, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Shencottah, Tuticorin, Tiruchendur, Nagercoil,Kanyakumari, Trivandrum, Panrutti, Neyveli, Villupuram, Kallkurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Salem, Coimbatore, Ernakulam and Bangalore would be operated from the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) at Koyambedu.
Route diversionsÂ
Reservation buses from CMBT, Koyambedu will ply via Maduravoyal, Poonamalle, Nazarathpet, outer ring road and Vandalur instead of Tambaram and Perungalathur. All the reserved passengers with boarding points at Tambaram and Perungalathur are requested to board the respective buses from Urapakkam Temporary bus stop instead of Tambaram and Perungalathur. Cars and other vehicles are requested to take diversion via Tirukashukundram, Sriperumbudur and Chengalpattu between January 11 and 13 to avoid traffic congestion.
Feeder services to all bus standsÂ
The SETC will be operating a total of 11,270 buses to all important destinations from the above-mentioned bus stands between January 11 and 13. They include 2,275 regular and 794 special buses on January 11, 1,779 special buses on January 12 and 1,872 buses on January 13. Moreover, A total of 6,423 buses will be operated from other important locations. They include 991 special buses on January 11, 2,291 buses on January 12 and 3,141 special buses on January 13.
