Make syllabus more relevant, PMK urges government
The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss has demanded the government to apply corrective measures to improve school syllabus and examination systems.

In a statement, he said “At a time, when there has been a lot of improvements in Science and technology, the government should change the syllabus accordingly to suit the present conditions. As Tamil Nadu lags behind there is no quality education,”. Stating that though state government was conducting SSLC and plus two examinations, the state ranked only fifth, the PMK leader said this was due to the syllabus. “Around 20,000 plus two students write NEET, but only a few hundred succeed. Still worse, those who study in Tamil medium find it difficult to write the exam,” Anbumani said.
Similarly, only few students get through the IIT entrance examination. “A total of 33,000 students wrote the IIT entrance last year and only 33 students, who studied State syllabus passed,” the youth wing leader noted. If this situation continues, not even a single student would be eligible to write national level examinations. Therefore there is a need to enhance the syllabus, Anbumani Ramadoss pointed out.
