US returnee held for posing as policeman

According to the police, Ramesh intercepted the SUV of export businessman Sachin Kaat (36), a resident of Anna Nagar West on Tuesday evening near Soundarya Colony and asked Kaat to get out of the vehicle. Ramesh introduced himself as a policeman and started questioning Kaat. When Kaat grew suspicious, he demanded to see the identity card of Ramesh. 

This soon developed into an altercation and Ramesh suddenly pulled out a gun and pointed it at Kaat. When he shouted for help, locals rushed to the spot and Ramesh tried to escape from the spot. Public chased and caught the accused. Later, they handed him over to the Thirumangalam police. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody.
