Rajathi visits Apollo, gets update on CM from Sasikala
Rajathi Ammal, wife of DMK president M. Karunanidhi and mother of Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, visited the Apollo Hospitals here on Thursday evening to enquire about the health of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa who is undergoing treatment there.

DMK sources said that Rajathi Ammal had reached the hospital at around 7.30 pm and spent close to 30 minutes interacting with Jayalalithaa’s close aide Sasikala and others present there. “She had met Sasikala and discussed the CM’s health condition,” a senior DMK leader confirmed. While the DMK patriach’s wife had been wanting to call on the Chief Minister for a while, she got permission from Karunanidhi only recently, disclosed party seniors.
On Friday, Kerala politician and Leader of the Opposition in the state legislative assembly Ramesh Chennithala visited the hospital and met the team of doctors attending on Jayalalithaa. Speaking to reporters, Chennithala said, “I met the doctors and learnt that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is getting better and responding well to the treatment. On behalf of the Kerala people, I wish and pray that Jayalalithaa should recover at the earliest.” Meanwhile, even as the state police have been cracking down on those spreading rumours about the Chief Minister’s health condition, there has been no official bulletin from Apollo Hospitals for the past four days.
The last bulletin that was released on October 10 stated that the Chief Minister continued to be under constant monitoring by intensivists and consultants in the panel. In that communique, the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer stated that the respiratory support was being closely watched and adjusted. Lung decongestion treatment was being continued and all comprehensive measures including nutrition, and supportive therapy were under way.
