For matriculation students who are appearing for the Class 10 English examination, the following tips will help them achieve a better outcome.

Both papers require students to thoroughly study all the questions found at the end of each chapter. They must ensure that they learn the glossary from all the chapters. This includes synonyms and antonyms. Students must not take any chapter for granted, as it is hard to predict which will yield the highest number of questions.

For the glossary, it is not compulsory for students to write the entire question before writing the answer. Writing only the key word and the answer, will be sufficient.

When preparing for the two-mark question, students are advised to study all the questions from at least five of the seven chapters. The answers must be precise and to the point and must ideally comprise of two or three lines.

For paragraph questions that carry a weightage of five marks each, students are advised to learn at least five of the seven chapters in both, the prose and the poetry. For the memoritor poems, students must write the content exactly as it is provided in the text book. Students are advised to learn at least three of the four poems.

Punctuation is very important and if missing or incorrectly placed, this will result in deduction of marks. Always write the heading and the poet’s name. It is best for students to attempt the questions in the order in which they are given in the question paper.

In order to save time, they can opt to write the paragraph questions first and save the grammar questions for last as they are application-oriented. Students are provided with adequate time before each examination.

Manage your time properly and create a timetable while preparing. Refrain from writing anything on the question paper.

A calm mind will further enhance a student’s capability to tackle the question paper. Pace yourself while writing the examination. Go through the question paper and try to attempt all the questions. Presentation and a good handwriting will help boost overall marks.

When attempting the paragraph answers, do not provide any subheads. Remember that they are called paragraph answers for a reason and never break the answer into subsections. This will ensure that students are rewarded the maximum marks.
