Fan posters of Enthiran 2 out

Soon after the crew and cast of Shankar’s Enthiran 2 were announced, Rajini fans have taken the liberty of forecasting the movie’s look through posters, devised from imagination and information gathered, while also drawing from others in the same genre.

Fashion statement
All we know about Enthiran 2 is that it stars Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson along with the Superstar. But fans have already created a fan poster for the movie. A poster made by Madan Thapa, a third year Visual Communication student has already been doing the rounds on social media. “Anything that Thalaiva does is a fashion statement. I had already made a fan poster for Kabali. As soon as I heard about the cast and crew of the sequel to Enthiran , I decided to go ahead, drawing from the posters of video games and Hollywood movies. It took me three hours to create it, using Photoshop,” says Madan.

Original look
The concept of fan posters is not new. Even before the official poster for Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie, Kabali , was out, there were several posters of the movie that were shared online, leading  people from the industry to think that they were real. Fans had gathered all the information about Kabali to make it look as close to the film’s look as possible.They plan to do the same for Enthiran 2 as well. “We know that Akshay Kumar is in the negative role. We plan to give him a rustic look. According to rumours, Amy Jackson is a robot too. So we are planning to give her the swanky look,” says Ashok Kumar Pandiyan, who, along with his friends, is planning to launch a fan poster in a few days.

Getting the look right
Terence Sandeep, a final year engineering student and a freelance graphic designer, adds, “Designing a poster is not easy. We have to go through a series of images, and then based on the storyline, draw inspiration from other posters. It’s not just the images, we have to work on the typography too to go with the look.” With more information about the movie emerging, Rajini can expect more fan posters. And it’s not Rajini alone, but other stars too are the subject of interpretation by poster artists.
